Photo Blogging Challenge-Photographer's Choice
This month for the photo blog challenge the theme is "Photographer's Choice" and I'm choosing to feature photos that I took for the organization My Story Matters, and non-profit organization whose mission statement is- "My Story Matters creates storybooks which help lift a child’s self-esteem, give individuals courage to face difficult situations, and tell stories that uplift and encourage each of us to be better. These experiences are extremely rewarding." The project that I was lucky enough to help with was taking pictures of refugee girls living in Salt Lake. The girls I photographed were sisters from Tanzania. As you can see from the pictures below they like to have fun, tease each other and play soccer. The pictures I took were made into books that the girls can keep to tell their story. Below the pictures are some of the messages that were included in the book.

Photo Blogging Challenge-Out of the box
This month for the photo blog challenge the theme is "out of the box" and that makes me think of going outside, you know, out of the house box. I got the chance to photograph a golf tournament that benefitted the charity Children and the Earth and that is out of the box.

Photo Blogging Challenge-Vibrant
This month for the photo blog challenge the theme is "Vibrant" and that makes me think of bright colors, which are showing up more and more during this springtime. Here are my selections for this month.
This sunrise is only slightly enhanced after the photo was taken, pretty much this was what I saw while driving to an early morning meeting.
This is Emily, and she attend a recent Handshakes and Headshots event at my studio, and not only is her clothing vibrant, so is her personality.
This is what I saw from my car one evening after leaving the studio. since I had my camera with me I pulled over and captured the scene.
This is what happens when I babysit, and all the older kids are in school. I decide to entertain myself with a little photo shoot, and capture the love between a boy and his blanket.
This is the beauty of a blossoming tree, it only lasts for 2 weeks, so I'm lucky that I caught it.

Photo Blogging Challenge-Three
This month for the photo blog challenge the theme is "Three" because the challenge is three years old. I have an odd interpretation of this theme. Early this month my husband and I took a trip to Las Vegas, and we stayed in the MGM Signature tower 3. Now I know this is a stretch of the theme, but all the photos in this post were taken in the hotel room, in tower 3. See- three theme. :)
I'm always drawn to sunrises, and this was a beautiful view from the room.
The window was reflective, and I liked how the water spots looked, so I took a picture of myself looking at the sunrise.
I liked the light coming through the window, and the line of the drapes. My husband said I could take his picture if he could continue doing his work.
Eventually he let me get a headshot using the lovely window light.

Bernie Sanders Rally in Salt Lake City, Utah
It is fairly rare occurrence for presidential candidates to visit Utah, but this year the Caucus is being held in March instead of June, which makes candidates more interested in campaigning here. Yesterday there were multiple candidates in Salt Lake, but I chose to go to the Bernie Sanders rally and practice my photojournalism skills. I think I may have underestimated the size of the crowds (some estimated it was over 14,000) and thus the time spent in line was quite long. Here are a few of my favorites, but you can also see the full set here.
